The challenges I face in my day-to-day work:
A question that we, along with the Management, regularly ask ourselves is how well we, as company, are positioned for the future. The digitalisation of the dental industry offers great opportunities to redefine complex processes in dental clinics and laboratories and for us to successfully market our products and services in this direction. Our goal is to help our customers – as a minimum – to double the efficiency of their processes through digitalisation relative to their existing ways of working. The questions we ask ourselves therefore include: How can our products and services make the work of our customers quicker? Where can processes be made more efficient?
The colleagues I work with most:
In my position as Head of Digital Business Development, I am responsible for the continual development and implementation of our digital strategy. We work in an agile way within holacratic structures where each expert can contribute on an equal footing. When building business relationships with new partners, I work a lot with our Management and colleagues from Sales and the Legal Department. When it comes to product and service projects, I work together with Research & Development, as well as with project and product managers. So, I'm in contact with different people from within and outside the company every day, which makes things really interesting.
What we have achieved at DMG that I am proud of:
I joined a young and very motivated digital team and was impressed how the team had already managed to come up with an integrated digital workflow approach for clinics and laboratories, and how we then managed to implement this together. That’s actually quite something. In order to tap into the digital potential regarding quality and efficiency, various devices need to be networked with each other, and processing sequences need to be digitally mapped and documented – it’s a complex undertaking. In addition to the hardware and appropriate materials, achieving the above also means you need the right software. Our team developed our software, DentaMile connect, completely on its own. I was extremely proud of the team's achievement when DentaMile connect won the German Innovation Award 2020 for “Winner Excellence in Business to Business” in the “Medical Technologies” category.

What a typical working day looks like:
A typical working day doesn't really exist, at least not for me. One day might be filled with meetings, the next with conceptual work or writing texts for a wide variety of media. In general, I start my day by checking if there are any urgent new jobs or feedback on ongoing projects. And liaising with internal “customers” always plays an important part. We tackle projects by first discussing what is required, e.g. a brochure or an email, and then checking in with each other frequently as we work on the job – until we finally have a finished item that we are all happy with.
What has surprised me most about DMG:
I think what I find most amazing is the frequency and speed at which things change and progress. There's something big happening at DMG all the time. New areas of responsibility, departments and entire company divisions, major projects such as new production buildings or our Dental Training Centre – it seems that there is always something big underway.
The colleagues I work with most:
On the one hand, there are my department colleagues, who are responsible for things like graphics, social media, our website and media planning. And then, of course, there are our internal customers. These are mainly from Product Management, Sales and Training, but also from areas such as Clinical Research and HR Department. There are actually a lot of different people, when I think about it ...
